Darnell Coles
A Lot of Heart
by Stephen Wall (Seattle, WA)

Darnell Coles played left field for the Mariners and had as much defensive hustle as Ken Griffey Jr. ever had. He would run full bore into the wall, make diving catches and throw with exceptional accuracy into the infield. The fans in the Kingdome believed in him, for when he strove to the plate with the game on the line he gave everything he had, which was often enough. He is well remembered here in Seattle.
