Jody Davis

by Tim Usowski (Charlestown, IN)

Growing up around Chicago, I was a huge cubs fan and Jody Davis was my favorite player (I can't remember why). I was 4 years old in 1985, and my father worked as a police officer in the area. One day on patrol, he pulled over an elderly couple heading into Chicago. He got to chatting with them and it turned out that they were none other than Davis's parents! He told them that Jody was his young son's favorite player. My dad must have given them our address and let them off with a warning, for a few days later I recieved in the mail several autographed items, including an autographed player calender, an '83 Fleer baseball card ( which my brother beat to hell, but I still have it) and a personnal photo taken of Davis greeting the pitcher and other players (including Sandberg) on the mound after a Cubs victory. I got to meet Jody at the '98 or '99 cubs convention, and he remembered it very well. What a nice guy, and a great Cubbie!!

» Tim Usowski is a senior at Indiana University (which he hates). He also rocks!!!!!
