Mike Laga
Profile
by Andrew Spallek (St. Louis, MO)

Mike Laga showed promise as a lefthanded dead pull hitter when he hit .261 with three homers and 11 RBI in just 27 games for Detroit in 1982. But Mike was a liability at first base with his limited range and had no speed on the basepaths. His best chance came in 1988 when he managed 100 at-bats with St. Louis. Not able to take advantage of this opportunity, however, he hit just .130 with one home run. Ending his major league career with a .199 batting average, Laga played in Japan, slugging 32 home runs in 1991. Of these 32 homers, 30 were to right and two to center.
