Adrian Garrett
Profile
by Andrew Spallek (St. Louis, MO)

Reported to have said of his own career "I've had more cups of coffee in the majors than Mrs. Olsen" (referring to the Folgers Coffee TV ads), Adrian Garrett played in portions of seven major league seasons but never more than 53 games in a single season. A powerful lefthanded hitting outfielder who could also catch, Ade seemed the ideal addition to a major league bench but he never could produce with consistency. Garrett played three seasons in Japan after leaving the Angels in 1976, hitting 40 homers for Hiroshima in 1978. He is the brother of former Mets' third baseman Wayne Garrett (who also played in Japan).
