Eddie Murray
Best Clutch Hitter in the Last 40 Years
by Bob Snow (Silver Spring, MD)

When you judge the greatness of a player, all you need to do is look at the statistics. Lou Gehrig was one of the most prolific RBI men of all time, and the all time leader in Grand Slams.

Number 2 on the all time list is none other than Eddie Murray.

Eddie Murray finished his career with over 3,000 hits and 500 homers, and only Willie Mays and Hank Aaron have been able to do that as well.

While baseball kept records of game winning hits, Eddie Murray was always at the top of the list.

I've been a baseball fan since the late 50s and there is no doubt in my mind that the greatest clutch hitter in the last forty years is Eddie Murray. This is what a Hall of Famer looks like.

Congratulations, Eddie.
