Kevin Mitchell, Independent
His Life in the WBL
by Bob Proctor (Rohnert Park, CA)

Despite the negative stories about Kevin Mitchell, I saw him quite differently than the common perception of him. While he was with the Sonoma County Crushers of the Independent Western Baseball League Kevin became a warm and loved member of the community. As long as there was a kid waiting with a ball, glove, shirt, cap, etc. Kevin would sign autographs for them. He sometimes was the last in uniform to leave the clubhouse because it took so long to finish with the kids, but no child left the park wanting. As an adult I found him to be quiet yet he harbored a love for people and would share his time unselfishly. I count myself among the thousands who will miss seeing him light up our days with his smile... and his bat.
