Tale of two Tims

by Tim Mandese (Tampa, FL)

I grew up with Tim Crews. He was a few years older than me. I was the other Tim on the block. Being younger, I was stuck with the nickname "Little Tim" but I didn't mind. Tim and his two brothers, Kim and Jim, along with myself and the rest of the neighborhood pack would play all kinds of sports.

You could see talent in Tim from a very early age. When Tim made the majors my father, who had a flirting go with minor league ball, used to love to watch him on TV when he was pitching. He would call me and tell me "Tim's on" and we would often watch and cheer him on. My father passed away in 1993, and it was shortly after that that Tim died in a boating accident.

This Tim will miss them both.
