John Emil Frisk

by Fran Frisk Lenyo

John Emil Frisk was my great uncle. Because he was a man of few words he was given the nickname "The Silent Norseman." There are 2 different listings for his place of birth. One says he was born in Ignace, Canada in 1874. The other listing states he was born in Kalkaska, Michigan. I believe Kalkaska is his birthplace. John Emil's father was Charles Frisk. Charles Frisk was naturalized as an American citizen in 1872 so I believe Kalkaska to be John Emil's true place of birth.
