Ken Hill at Montreal Expos' last game

by Dolores Huard (Montreal, QC)

I recently saw Ken Hill at the last Montreal Expos' game last Wednesday, September 29, 2004, one of the saddest days of my life!

Ken Hill was an invited guest as the Expos were honouring the 1994 Expos which he had been part of. They were leading the National League East by 6 games when a strike was called on September 14, 1994. After that season Ken and other prominent members of that great team were traded and, well, as they say, the rest is history!

Unfortunately I didn't manage to get an autographed picture of Ken last Wednesday because the line-up was too long, but I did manage to tell him that he hadn't lost his good looks! In my embarassment afterwards I forgot to thank him for accepting the Expos invitation and also to thank him for the years he thrilled us with his magnificent pitching. I also remember him as one of the classier players who was always kind to the fans and who was a good role model for the youngsters who were lucky enough to know him.

So Ken, if you ever happen to read this thank you so much for everything you gave us. I do wish you luck and happiness in whatever you're doing today.

A very grateful Montreal Expos fan.
