Chris Sabo in the First Grade
At Yost Elementary in Detroit, Michigan
by Pam Hale (Farmington)

It is unbelievable that Chris Sabo is considered to be such a goof-ball idiot. I couldn't believe the corked bat incident. See, I remember Chris as being a very sweet boy. My family didn't have tons of money. Neither did Chris. For a holiday, I brought some very tiny homemade cookies to class in first grade. For gods sake, I was so embarrassed that I remember it to this day! Anyway, when I handed out the cookies, everyone else had these huge, expensive ones, but Chris gave me a big smile, ate the cookie I gave him, and said it was the best one he tasted. It was one shining moment in the misery of grade school. I know it is not much after all I have seen him do as an adult. But, he is human and we should give him a break!
