John Rocker Released

by Doug Goodwin (Cartersville, GA)

After being signed by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and making 2 scant mound appearances, the team optioned Rocker to their Orlando AAA team.

Rocker failed to gain any momentum, brandishing an 0-1, 9.15 ERA record in 17 appearances for Orlando. While he notched 20 strikeouts in his 19.2 innings, he allowed 23 hits, 23 runs (20 earned) and walked 26.

The Devil Rays released John Rocker on June 28, 2003.
