Carroll Hardy, the Football Player

by Bill Gilbert (Baytown, TX)

My recollections of Carroll Hardy are primarily as a football player. He was a single-wing tailback at the University of Colorado when I was there in the mid-1950s. He was an outstanding runner and an adequate passer. He was one of the top players in the Big Eight Conference, leading the team to successful seasons while he was playing there.

» Bill Gilbert is a member of SABR and has made presentations at the last 8 SABR Conventions. He has written numerous articles that have been published in SABR publications, John Benson's books, the Grandstand Baseball Annual and other publications. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1957.
