John Tudor
A Class Act
by John Bayer (St Louis, MO)

When John Tudor first joined the Cardinals in 1985, I saw a man who could really control his pitches and place them where they needed to go.

If Whitey Herzog called for an inside pitch, up and in, from the doughout John threw that pitch. If the catcher called for a curve ball John would send it away with no problem.

Even though John was vary much to himself, he earned respect from the players who opposed him at the plate.

John Tudor had talent that was unquestionably the best in the major leagues.

Even his teammates looked to him as an effective sensitive guy who, when times were tough, could fine positive encouragment to help in refocusing their attention on the sheer joy of playing the game.

John Tudor helped show that it takes an entire team to win a ballgame.

A positive attitude in pitching leads to winning.

John Tudor is blessed with that winning attitude.

» John Bayer, a fan of John Tudor who lives in St Louis, Missouri.
