WHITEY FORD, 1950 | Rookie southpaw Edward "Whitey" Ford came off the streets of Queens to win nine of ten decisions in 1950. The future Hall of Famer compiled a 236-106 record during his 16 seasons at Yankee Stadium for a dazzling .690 winning percentage. The brash, fun-loving Ford had a sneaky fastball, slow curveball, and wicked spitball.
