THE UNSTOPPABLE JOE DIMAGGIO | Joe DiMaggio rounded first base after hitting safely in his 42nd consecutive game in 1941. "You saw him standing out there and you knew you had a pretty damn good chance to win the baseball game," pitcher Red Ruffing said. DiMaggio, a .325 career hitter, captured two batting titles, three Most Valuable Player Awards, and had nearly as many home runs (361) as strikeouts (369). He was a member of 10 pennant winners, nine of which went on to win the World Series.
