 The original photograph of Charles Merkel with Mickey Mantle was taken before the start of the game between the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees at Sportsman’s Park in the summer of 1952. The photo was autographed by Mantle when Charles Merkel met him again nearly 40 years later at the Mantle/Ford Fantasy Camp.
