Babe Ruth at St. Mary's

BABE RUTH AT ST. MARY'S | George Herman "Babe" Ruth (back row, far left) was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1895. By the time he was seven, he was placed in St. Mary¹s Industrial School for Boys. Because of his behavioral problems, he would stay there until he was 16. During his stay at the school, he learned and excelled in the game of baseball, which was taught to him by school prefect Brother Matthais. Ruth joined the Baltimore Orioles and, in 1914, was purchased by the Red Sox.
