LIGHTING | Rivaling the unusual attraction of the team itself was the giant portable lighting system carried for night games. The huge electric floodlights were mounted on telescoping poles on a fleet of trucks. The projectors were also mounted on 50-foot poles and placed around the playing field. A large truck carrier the power plant and it was equipped with a 100,000-watt generator, powered by a 250-horsepower gasoline marine engine.
