CHIEF BENDER | On June 13, 1933, promoter Ray Doan signed former major league pitcher Charles "Chief" Bender. Bender was assigned to the Eastern Traveling Team as manager and star attraction. He played only part of the season, and never again played for Ray Doan or the House of David.
