ALEXANDER AND ATWELL | Grover Cleveland Alexander and Dick Atwell. Dick may have just told Alex about the time in Grand Junction, Colorado, when he was on third and Tucker broke for second. When the catcher's throw to second sailed into the outfield, Atwell scampered home, only to be tagged out. The "ball" that was pegged into the outfield turned out to be a potato. The call stood. Ole Pete looks a little bewildered by it all.
