GOODBYE, FRANKIE | By the end of the 1926 season, Frankie Frisch and his manager could barely tolerate each other's presence. So, in one of the most spectacular one-for-one trades in baseball history, John McGraw sent Frisch (who he berated as "Krauthead") to St. Louis for Rogers Hornsby. St. Louis manager Bob O'Farrell posed with Hornsby (left) and Frisch during the 1927 season. While Hornsby quickly wore out his welcome in New York, Frisch helped guide the Cardinals to four pennants and two world championships over the next 11 years.
