GATES BROWN | A fine clutch hitter, Gates Brown played all of his 13 years with Detroit. Affectionately known as "The Gator," Brown had a phenomenal season pinch-hitting in 1968 when he batted .461. Brown said: "I'm as square as an ice cube and twice as cool."
