HANK GREENBERG | Unlike many power hitters who hit towering drives, Hank Greenberg hit wicked smashes with low trajectory. Muddy Ruel, pitching coach for the White Sox in 1941, lectured his hurlers on how to deal with Hank. Ruel said, "When you face Greenberg don't let him take that toe hold. He digs both feet in so he can hammer you off the mound. That mound is yours. Stay on it. Throw that first one in under his chin."
