NETTIE STEARNES | After the death of Turkey Stearnes, his widow, Nettie, remained a vocal advocate for the enshrinement of her husband in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. As of this writing [1999, before Stearnes was elected to the Hall] Stearnes is considered to be the most talented player from the Negro Leagues not inducted into baseball's hallowed Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
