GOOSE TATUM | Taking a swing in a real game shows the gangly Goose Tatum out in front on a pitch. The basketball legend out of El Dorado, AR, acquired the name "Goose" from the way he flapped his arms, which had a spread of seven feet, three inches. Although he excelled at basketball and struggled to learn baseball, Tatum often claimed he liked baseball best. He started his baseball career in 1939 with the Louisville Black Colonels, and played for 11 years before rejoining the league in 1958 for a last laugh.
