SATCHEL PAIGE | When it comes to Negro League baseball, no name is more recognizable that that of pitcher Leroy "Satchel" Paige. Paige, in his 1941 Monarchs uniform, is shown taking some warm up tosses before a game at Briggs Stadium. During the early forties, when Detroit was without a Negro League team, other league teams regularly filled the void with action packed games and engaging personalities like "Satch."
