MINNIE MINOSO | In this photo, Cuban Orestes "Minnie" Minoso sports his new caddy. Minoso played for the New York Cubans of the Negro National League. He became the first black player with the Chicago White Sox in 1951. Minoso remained with the White Sox through the end of the 1957 season before being traded. During this period he led the American League in stolen bases three times (1951, 1954 & 1956) and in doubles once (1957). "Minnie returned to the White Sox in 1960, when he led the league in hits, through 1961 and again in 1964. A White Sox legend, Minoso appeared in 1374 games and had an average of .297.
