WRIGLEY FIELD | There are times in sports when a single event, due to the participants, actually proves bigger than the hype. Two such games took place in Chicago's Wrigley Field under the title of Satchel Paige Day. Both games, one in 1942 and the other in 1943, pitted the legendary Satchel Paige against the best black left-handed pitcher of the forties, Verdell "Lefty" Mathis of the Memphis Red Sox.
