IN THE NEWS: The 12 members of the board of directors of the Hall of Fame vote unanimously to bar Pete Rose from the ballot. He will become eligible again only if the commissioner reinstates him by December, 2005.

IN THE NEWS: Jack Morris signs a contract with his hometown team, the Minnesota Twins. In doing so, he turns down a 3-year offer from the Detroit Tigers.

Friday, February 8th

IN THE NEWS: Boston pitcher Roger Clemens signs a 4-year $21,521,000 contract extension, making him baseball's highest paid player. The contract calls for Clemens to receive $4.4 million in 1992, $4.5 million in 1993, $5 million in 1994, $5.5 million in 1995, and an option worth $5,830,250 for 1996.
