IN THE NEWS: White Sox pitcher Joe Cowley, who had been demoted to the minors earlier in the season, pitches an ugly no-hitter against the Angels. Cowley walks seven batters and allows a sacrifice fly as Chicago wins 7–1. For Cowley, this win is his high note, as he won't record another big league victory, going 0–4 with the Phils in 1987.
