IN THE NEWS : The Padres trade P Dave Tomlin and an estimated $125,000 in cash to the Rangers for aging P Gaylord Perry . Perry will win the NL Cy Young Award with San Diego in 1978. In March, the Rangers will sell Tomlin back to the Reds for a 2nd tour of duty, where he'll post a 9–1 record this year.
