IN THE NEWS: Thurman Munson gets a tainted first-inning hit as a pop fly drops between two Angels infielders calling for it. It turns out to be the only hit allowed by Nolan Ryan as he beats the Yankees, 5–0.

The Reds trade Jim McGlothlin to the White Sox for Steve Kealey. Kealey will do no pitching for the Reds, while McGlothlin will have just one decision in his last ML season.
