IN THE NEWS: Pacific Northwest Sports, Inc. is awarded one of the two American League expansion franchises. The team will play in Seattle.

Saturday, December 2nd

IN THE NEWS: The Twins trade P Ron Kline to the Pirates for infielder Bob Oliver, Kline was 7–1 in 1967 and will post a 12–5 record in relief for the Bucs in 1968.

Tuesday, December 5th

IN THE NEWS: Stan Musial resigns as GM of the Cardinals and is replaced by Bing Devine. Musial remains a senior veep.

Sunday, December 10th

IN THE NEWS: In a Puerto Rican League game, San Juan beats Arecibo, 6–3 behind Pat Dobson. The Detroit rookie strikes out 21 Arecibo batters.

Friday, December 15th

IN THE NEWS: Pittsburgh acquires P Jim Bunning from the Phillies for pitchers Woody Fryman, Bill Laxton, and Harold Clem, and IF Don Money.

The Mets trade OF Tommy Davis, P Jack Fisher, P Billy Wynne, and C Dick Booker to the White Sox for OF Tommie Agee and IF Al Weis.

The Red Sox trade C Mike Ryan and cash to the Phillies for P Dick Ellsworth and C/1B Gene Oliver.

IN THE NEWS: Red Sox star Jim Lonborg falls while skiing and injures his knee. The 1967 Cy Young Award winner, 22–9 this past season, will fall to 6–10 in 1968.
