IN THE NEWS: The Dodgers report a $24,000 shortfall in 1951 revenue, sparking a New York district attorney probe. There is a possible error in the World Series and post-season play-off revenues.

Thursday, February 7th

IN THE NEWS: North American P Bill Samson achieves an undistinguished winter league record by walking 14 Vargas batters in six innings while pitching for Cerveceria Caracas of the Venezuelan League. This negative feat also matches the major-league record set in 1906 by Henry Mathewson of the New York Giants, who needed nine full innings for an equal display of pitching wildness.

IN THE NEWS: The Browns pick up 1B Dick Kryhoski and pitchers Gene Bearden and Bob Cain from Detroit. The Tigers receive C Matt Batts, OF Cliff Mapes, P Dick Littlefield, and 1B Ben Taylor.

Saturday, February 16th

IN THE NEWS: Hall of Famer Honus Wagner, 77, retires after 40 years as a ML player and coach. He receives a pension from the Pirates, with whom he spent most of those years.

Thursday, February 21st

IN THE NEWS: Tommy Fine, North American righthander who posted only four ML decisions with the Red Sox and Browns, pitches the only no-hit, no-run game in the history of the Caribbean Series. Fine, hurling for Club Havana (Cuba) against Cervecería Caracas (Venezuela), wins 1–0 in the 4th Serie del Caribe at Panama City.
