IN THE NEWS: Red Ruffing pitches the Yankees to a 3-2 win over the Dodgers at Yankee Stadium in the opening game of the WS. Joe Gordon chips in with a HR and RBI single.

Thursday, October 2nd

IN THE NEWS: Dodgers ace Whit Wyatt trims the Yankees in a 3-2 Brooklyn win.

Saturday, October 4th

IN THE NEWS: In the 7th inning of a scoreless tie, Yankees pitcher Marius Russo breaks P Fred Fitzsimmons's knee with a line drive. The Yankees score 2 in the 8th off Hugh Casey to win 2-1.

Sunday, October 5th

IN THE NEWS: With 2 out in the 9th inning, Dodger C Mickey Owen drops a 3rd strike on Tommy Henrich, which would have given Brooklyn a 4-3 victory over New York. The Yankees then rally for a 7-4 win in the 4th game of the WS.

Monday, October 6th

IN THE NEWS: The New York Yankees top the Brooklyn Dodgers 3-1 to take the WS in 5 games. P Ernie Bonham of the Yankees retires the side on 3 pitches in the 7th inning.
