IN THE NEWS: P Sad Sam Jones, after 21 successive but not always successful American League seasons, is released by the Chicago White Sox.

Wednesday, November 13th

IN THE NEWS: Tiger owner Frank Navin dies while horse back riding. Walter Briggs will eventually become the new president.

Saturday, November 23rd

IN THE NEWS: The Giants purchase veteran P Dick Coffman from the Browns. Coffman, who was on the outs with Rogers Hornsby, will go 24–14 over the next four years for New York.

Tuesday, November 26th

IN THE NEWS: The National League takes over the bankrupt, last-place Boston Braves franchise after several failed attempts to buy the club. The league takes over only temporarily, until matters can be straightened out.
