IN THE NEWS: Nick Altrock, clowning coach of the Senators, pinch-hits at age 57 in a 3-0 loss to the A's.

Babe Ruth, in a season-ending stunt, pitches the final game of his career, defeating the Red Sox 6-5 with a complete game. Ruth hits a HR to help his effort.

IN THE NEWS: Scoring 6 runs in the 6th inning, the Giants make it 2 in a row over Washington. The Senators are again held to 5 hits.

Thursday, October 5th

IN THE NEWS: The WS moves to Washington, and Earl Whitehill blanks the Giants 4-0. President Roosevelt throws out the first ball and stays the whole game despite a steady rainfall.

Friday, October 6th

IN THE NEWS: Carl Hubbell wins for the 2nd time, going 11 innings for the 2-1 victory in a pitching duel with Monte Weaver. Heinie Manush is thrown out of the game for brushing umpire Charlie Moran in the 6th inning. Travis Jackson beats out a surprise bunt to open the 11th inning, is sacrificed to 2B on a close play, and scores on a single by Blondy Ryan.

Saturday, October 7th

IN THE NEWS: Flags are at half staff to honor William L. Veeck, Chicago Cubs president who died suddenly.

The WS comes to a close when Mel Ott homers in the 10th inning for a 4-3 Giants, victory. Dolf Luque gets the win in relief.

Tuesday, October 10th

IN THE NEWS: Joe Cronin is rewarded with a 3-year contract as player-manager of the Senators.
