Saturday, October 1st

IN THE NEWS: The WS moves to Chicago, and the Yankees continue to torment the Cubs. In the fifth inning, Babe Ruth waits until he has 2 strikes and then gestures to P Charlie Root. He belts the next pitch into the CF bleachers. It is Ruth's 2nd HR of the game. Gehrig also hammers out 2 round-trippers.

On the West Coast, a 17-year-old San Francisco player appears in his first game with the Seals (PCL). SS Joe DiMaggio has one hit against the Missions.

Sunday, October 2nd

IN THE NEWS: The demoralized Cubs lose 13-6, as the Yankees sweep the Series. Tony Lazzeri hits 2 HRs, and Earle Combs, one. Wilcy Moore gets the win in relief. Combs ties a WS record with 4 runs scored, and Bill Dickey ties another with 6 at bats.

IN THE NEWS: Clark Griffith announces that Walter Johnson will not be the manager of the Senators in 1933.

Saturday, October 8th

IN THE NEWS: Washington names 27-year-old SS Joe Cronin manager.

IN THE NEWS: The Giants get C Gus Mancuso from the Cards for 4 players, including veteran Bob O'Farrell.

IN THE NEWS: NY Yankees manager Joe McCarthy signs a 3-year contract.
