IN THE NEWS: The Cards send Grover Alexander, 42, back to the Phillies with C Harry McCurdy for OF Homer Peel and P Bob McGraw.

The Browns trade C Wally Schang back to the Athletics for 3B Sammy Hale.

Friday, December 20th

IN THE NEWS: Bill Carrigan has had enough of managing the Red Sox. He quits, and Heinie Wagner signs on for a year.

Tuesday, December 24th

IN THE NEWS: Officers of the New York Giants hand stockholder Francis X. McQuade a Christmas present, filing a $200,000 damage suit against the long-time club treasurer. The suit charges McQuade with seeking to "wreck and destroy" the club. McQuade countersues and after months of litigation, the NY Supreme Court will rule that McQuade is entitled to back pay, but not his job. A higher court will rule that he doesn't even get the back pay.
