The sidearming sinkerballer pitched for UCLA in the 1969 College World Series, and
then signed with the Royals. In 1971 he relieved in 53 games, winning five, with
a 2.90 ERA. Sent to Houston in a December 1971 deal for John Mayberry, York spent
part of each successive year though 1976 in Triple-A.
