The 6'3" Mets prospect never had a decision for New York, and in 1967 he went to Chicago in the six-player deal that brought Tommie Agee and Al Weis - two heroes of the 1969 World Series - to the Mets. Wynne went 7-7 for the White Sox in 1969. (JCA)

» December 15, 1967: The Mets trade OF Tommy Davis, P Jack Fisher, P Billy Wynne, and C Dick Booker to the White Sox for OF Tommie Agee and IF Al Weis.

» June 16, 1969: At Milwaukee County Stadium, Chicago's Billy Wynne lives up to his name, recording his first ML victory, defeating the Seattle Pilots, 8–3. The Sox are playing 20 home games in the Brew City this year.

» July 27, 1969: In the team's biggest shutout victory ever, Baltimore routs the White Sox, 17–0, as Jim Hardin wins over Billy Wynne. Hardin allows just two hits while the Birds bang out 20, good for 39 total bases. Frank Robinson drives in five runs and hits a pair of homers.

» September 9, 1970: California's Alex Johnson becomes the 3rd player in history to put one into the CF bleachers at Comiskey Park when he connects in the 6th against Chicago's Billy Wynne in a 2–1 loss in eight innings. The Sox also win the opener, 11–4, to break their eight game losing streak. Bill Melton leads to 5-homer offense with a pair and five RBIs.
