» May 8, 1994: Danny Tartabull, Mike Stanley, and Gerald Williams hit back-to-back-to-back home runs for the Yankees in the 6th inning of NY's 8-4 win over Boston. » May 1, 1996: The Yanks and Orioles continue their marathon play, this one going five hours and 43 minutes before ending at one a.m. Tino Martinez, whose homer snapped yesterday's tie, slugs a grand slam in the 15th to give reliever Andy Pettitte the win. Bernie Williams has five hits while Gerald Williams collects 6—just the 2nd Yankee to get six in a game; Myril Hoag in 1934, is the other. The O's and Yankees strand 15 runners in extra innings, as both teams squander scoring opportunities, and New York survives four errors by two second basemen. Jim Mecir strikes out Brady Anderson with the bases loaded in the 10th after going to a 3–0 count. Cal Ripken is lifted for a pinch runner in the 8th—who is promptly picked off—and sits for the last seven innings, the longest stretch he's rested in 2,180 games.
» May 14, 1996: Dwight Gooden, on the verge of being dropped from the Yankees just two weeks ago, twirls a no-hitter to sink the Mariners, 2–0. Dr. No walks two in the 9th, but retires Ken Griffey, Jr., K's Jay Buhner, and induces Paul Sorrento to pop out to end it. Gerald Williams saves the no-hitter when he runs down a 400-foot Alex Rodriguez liner in the first inning and turns it into a double play. Gooden (2–3) has now thrown 16 straight innings of hitless ball.
» June 2, 1996:
At Oakland, the Yankees win 11–4 and do it the old—fashioned way—by stealing eight bases. Gerald Williams, with 10 career steals, has four steals to tie a club record, and rookie Derek Jeter adds 2. Kenny Rogers (4–1) is the benefactor, pitching six 1/3 innings for the win, as the Yankees stay one 1/2 games ahead of the O's.
» August 23, 1996: The Yankees obtain P Graeme Lloyd and former Rookie of the Year Pat Listach from the Brewers in exchange for OF Gerald Williams and knuckler Bob Wickman. Lloyd is put to work and provides late inning relief as the first-place Yankees beat the A's, 5–3. The Yanks will officially complain to the American League that the Brewers sent damaged goods in the two players, but the complaint is ignored. However, the Brewers will take back Listach and send Ricky Bones to the Yanks on the 29th. The Yanks will file a grievance over Lloyd's injury next month.
» December 11, 1997: The Braves trade P Chad Fox to the Brewers in exchange for OF Gerald Williams.
» August 18, 1998: Greg Maddux wins his 200th game as the Braves double up the Giants, 8–4. Maddux allows one earned run to lower his National League best ERA to 1.65. In a rarity, the Braves collect nine hits—all doubles. Gerald Williams, Danny Bautista and Walt Weiss have two apiece, while Eddie Perez drives in three runs with another.
» October 15, 1999: Behind the pitching of Tom Glavine, the Braves defeat the Mets, 1-0 for their 3rd win in a row. Atlanta scores an unearned run in the 1st inning with the help of two NY errors. It is the 1st time all year the Mets make two errors in the same inning. With Gerald Williams on 2nd & Bret Boone on 1st, with one out, the Braves pulled off a double steal. Williams scores when Mets C Mike Piazza fires the ball into center field trying to throw out Boone.
» December 20, 1999:
The Devil Rays sign free agent OF Gerald Williams to a 2-year contract.
