Williams joined the A's in 1930 and played for two straight pennant winners. A utility infielder, he sat as veteran Joe Boley played shortstop and batted .095 in the 1930 World Series. For the 1931 Series, Connie Mack replaced Boley with the strong-armed Williams; Williams responded by batting .320. (JK)
