Native New Yorker Williams pitched for the Mets in 1971, before moving across the country in the deal that brought Willie Mays from the Giants. Strong-armed but with unreliable control, he was used mainly in long relief. Although he saved only four games in 235 relief appearances, he had 16 wins out of the bullpen. (FS)
