Though Wietelmann appeared in nine consecutive major league seasons, he was a regular only with the Braves during World War II, playing mostly shortstop. In 1943 he had 534 at-bats but went homerless. He batted righthanded in 1939-40, and 1942; lefthanded in 1943 and 1945; and switch-hit in 1941, 1944, and 1946-47. He later became a minor league pitcher-manager. (FK)
