» June 27, 1991: The Indians trade P Tom Candiotti and OF Turner Ward to the Blue Jays in exchange for OF Glenallen Hill, OF Mark Whiten, P Denis Boucher, and a player to be named later.

» March 31, 1993: The Cardinals trade P Mark Clark and SS Juan Andujar to the Indians in exchange for OF Mark Whiten. Whiten will have his best season for Cards in '93.

» September 7, 1993: Cardinals OF Mark Whiten ties the major–league record for RBIs in a game with 12 in St. Louis' 15-2 win over the Reds in the 2nd game of a doubleheader. Whiten hits a record-tying four home runs, including a first inning grand slam, in the contest. His only out is a pop out in the 4th. Todd Zeile, who scores three in the opener, scores ahead of Mark three times, while Gerald Perry is on base for each of the homers. With one RBI in the opener, a 14–13 loss, he also ties Nate Colbert's mark of 13 RBIs in a doubleheader. Prior to today, Whiten had not homered in four weeks. Bob Tewksbury (16-8) is the winner in the Whiten blowout.

» April 8, 1995: The Red Sox trade 3B Scott Cooper, P Cory Bailey, and a player to be named to the Cardinals for OF Mark Whiten, and P Rheal Cormier.

» July 24, 1995: The Red Sox obtain IF Dave Hollins from the Phillies for the well-traveled Mark Whiten.

» June 2, 1996: In Philadelphia, the Phils edge the Padres, 9–8, in 12 innings when Ricky Otero singles home the winner with two outs. Mark Whiten drives in five runs for the winners on two homers. The first place Padres suffer a blow when Wally Joyner fractured left thumb sliding in the 4th inning. He will be out of action for six weeks.

» August 16, 1996: Playing for his 7th team in six years, Mark Whiten hits a pinch homer in his first at bat for Seattle to help beat the Yanks. In his last at-bat for the Braves before being traded for farmhand Roger Blanco, Whiten belted a 3-run pinch homer to beat the Phils, 5–2. Whiten is the 45th player used by Seattle this season.

» August 29, 1996: OF Mark Whiten hits a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning to give Seattle a 9-6 win over Baltimore. Alex Rodriguez gets five hits for the Mariners, including a double and two home runs.

» January 9, 1997: The Yankees sign free agent OF Mark Whiten.

» July 21, 1997: Four days after the birth of his second child, Yankees' OF Mark Whiten is arrested in Milwaukee and charged with second-degree sexual assault of a 31-year-old woman.

» July 31, 1998: Oakland defeats Cleveland, 12–2. Down by nine runs in the 8th inning, the Indians bring OF Mark Whiten in to pitch. The strong-armed Whiten allows one run on a double, HBP (Scott Spiezio), and two walks, but also strikes out three batters (Mike Blowers, Miguel Tejada, and Mike Neill). He becomes the only player in major league history, with at least one inning pitched, to get every out with a strikeout.

» October 9, 1998: Cleveland takes a 6–1 victory over the Yankees on the strength of four home runs: two by Jim Thome, and one each by Manny Ramirez and Mark Whiten. Andy Pettitte gives up three of the homers in 5th inning.

» November 30, 1999: Braves minor leaguer Roger Blanco is killed by robbers in Ctia La Mar, Venezuela. Blanco, 30, was traded to the Braves in 1996 for Mark Whiten.
