FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» June 5, 1935: Rookie White Sox P John Whitehead, who had won his first eight starts, loses to the Browns 2–0.

» June 15, 1935: John Whitehead, Chisox rookie ace, bows to the Yankees, 5–3. Texas Johnnie allows 13 hits, including four by Gehrig. But it is Red Rolfe's double in the 9th that brings home the final two runs. Johnny Murphy wins in relief. New York now leads the surprising White Sox by four games.

» August 5, 1940: In twin bill nitecap in St. Louis, the Browns John Whitehead pitches a 6-inning rain-shortened no-hitter against the Tigers, winning 4–0. An ankle injury will sideline him and this will be Silent John's only 1940 victory.
