Originally signed by the Royals, Wellman was one of four players sent to the Giants in exchange for Vida Blue in 1982, and was a backup infielder with the Giants for three seasons. He spent most of 1986-87 in the minors, then signed with the Royals again as a free agent, and in 1988 hit a career-high .271 for Kansas City. (SCL)
