Watson was the Giants' starting pitcher in Game One of the 1923 World Series, the first WS game played at Yankee Stadium. He had complete-game victories in both ends of a doubleheader against the Phillies on August 13, 1921; the second game was a two-hit, no-walk, 8-0 shutout. He performed this iron-man feat in his best season, 14-13 with a 3.85 ERA for the Braves. He was traded to the Giants in June 1923 and went 8-5 the rest of the way as they won the NL flag. He went 9-7 in 1924 as they repeated. In the 1923 WS, he left after giving up three runs in two innings, getting a no-decision; the next year he saved Game Three against the Senators. (NLM)
