FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» June 7, 1996: In the major-league's only scheduled doubleheader this season, Minnesota and Oakland split. Pat Meares' 2-run homer in the 5th of the lidlifter gives the Twins a 4–2 win. Oakland outslugs the Twins, 13–7, in the nitecap. John Wasdin (3–0) is helped by a George Williams grand slam in the 6-run 5th while Brent Gates, Geronimo Berroa, and Torey Lovullo also homer. All other twin bills this season are the result of makeup games.

» January 27, 1997: The Red Sox trade DH Jose Canseco and cash to the Athletics for P John Wasdin.

» June 26, 1999: Boston scores 11 runs in the 1st inning on the way to a 17-1 victory over the White Sox. Pedro Martinez (14-2) goes five innings with John Wasdin pitching the last 4. Brian Daubach and Nomar Garciaparra homer in the 1st with Nomar adding another in the 3rd. Mike Stanley and Jason Varitek also homer in the game for Boston.

» July 27, 2000: The Red Sox obtain pitchers Rolando Arrojo and Rick Croushore, IF Mike Lansing, and cash from the Rockies for pitchers Brian Rose, John Wasdin, and Jeff Taglienti, and 2B Jeff Frye.
